Redesign Zcash

Animated Redesign Zcash Logo

CLIENT/INDUSTRY: School Project
MEDIUM: Digital
SOFTWARE:   Illustrator, Aftereffects, Photoshop
DELIVERABLES: Digital Assets
TARGET AUDIENCE: Older Consumers and Females

In this hypothetical assignment, the scenario is that the Zcash brand would like to emphasize how secure and stable Zcash Cryptocurrency is with a redesign of the existing logo. In addition, they also wanted to take this opportunity to expand the business to an older audience and cross-gender divides. I created my version of the Zcash logo and created a logo animation that would play during the loading screen for the Cryptocurrency's website.

IDEATION

WHAT COLOR IS BEST?

After deciding on a shield motif that emphasizes safety and security for the rebranding design of the Zcash logo, my next course of action was to decide on the color. I had to remember two main questions, What color would appeal to women without being stereotypical and not push away the original male customer base? After multiple logo drafts, these questions took more work to answer than first expected.

FINAL DECISION

For the Final design, the idea of "softening" the shield's harsh angles and curves came to mind, creating a more elegant tone that would Suble possibly appeal to females without being "overly feminine." The logo color became green because the shade of green is often "traditional" and associated with "money"—possibly appealing to older consumers.

EMPHASIZING BRANDING

Animating the logo helped enforce the rebranded ideas. I was emphasizing safety and security with the shimmer of the shield. Having the logo appear with the streaking lines will possibly remind people of how the internet or data transfer was portrayed in older movies, again reaching out to older consumers—the animation/gif with done by pulling the illustrator file into adobe aftereffects.
